Vertical Rescue Operator

Course Overview:

This course gives the participants the skills to operate within a rope rescue team whilst under the constant and direct supervision of highly skill and accredited roping instructor at a maximum ratio of 8:1.

Due to the high risk of this type training, all training is controlled in the strictest manner using an infringement system to monitor and control the environment.

The participants will gain theoretical and practical (20% theory / 80% practical) expertise in raising and lowering systems, ascending and descending techniques.

All participants will be trained from a very basic level through to an advanced level there is no pre-requisite required for this training.

Advanced skills obtained include but not limited to rescue from lanyard, assisted abseil, mechanical advantage and stretcher escort.

  • Associated Equipment
  • Raising and Lowering Systems
  • Rigging/Anchoring Systems
  • Ascending and Descending Techniques

Some advanced skills covered in this course include:

  • Single Person Rescue
  • Assisted Abseil
  • Stretcher Escort
